Tara Parker is a partner in the Entertainment Law Group at Goodmans. Her practice focuses on advising major U.S., international and Canadian studios, broadcasters, producers, literary, musical, theatrical and business clients on a wide range of media-related matters, including film financing, international co-productions and joint-ventures, rights acquisitions, format licence and distribution deals, errors and omissions insurance, clearance and copyright law matters.


Tara was named the Best Lawyers’ 2015 Toronto Entertainment Law “Lawyer of the Year” and is also recognized as a leading entertainment lawyer by Best Lawyers in Canada, Chambers Canada, The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, The Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada and Who's Who Legal: Sports & Entertainment. She is also recognized for media by Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Technology, Media & Telecommunications Lawyers and the Guide to the World's Leading Women in Business Law.


Tara is a guest lecturer on entertainment law at the University of Toronto law school and Ryerson University. Her recent presentations include Dealing with Social Media Influencers, at the Entertainment & Media Law Symposium in May 2019, Entertainment Law, at the 21st Osgoode Hall Entertainment & Sports Law Association Conference in March 2019, and Clearances, Errors & Omissions, at The Osgoode Certificate in Entertainment Law, in February 2019.

Tara has appeared as a guest expert on the subjects of format/reality programs and copyright/street art on the Business News Network (BNN) and CTV networks, respectively.

She has contributed articles to various entertainment law publications including, most recently, Views about Drake's 6IX trademark dispute and Cartoonist challenges Banksy’s intellectual Property Rights in The Lawyer’s Daily, published by LexisNexis Canada.

Tara is a contributing editor to Canadian Forms and Precedents: Commercial Transactions – Information Technology and Entertainment published by LexisNexis. Tara is also a member of the BANFF Spark Advisory Board.
