David Matlow is a partner at Goodmans. He focuses on corporate finance, corporate law, private equity, mergers and acquisitions and securities law.
David acts for both public and private companies in a range of transactions, including financings, initial public offerings, regulatory matters and divestitures. He represented Vincor International Inc. from its initial acquisition by a consortium in 1992 to its sale to Constellation Brands, Inc. in 2006. David has also acted for the target in the take-over bids for John Labatt Limited, Canada Malting, Diamond Fields, Sun Media, CTV, Second Cup, Ault Foods, OSF and Mackenzie Financial Corporation. He represented Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd., the owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors, in connection with its purchase of the Major League Soccer team, The Toronto FC. He acts for a number of private equity firms including Clairvest in their investing activities. He also acts for the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board in connection with its commitments to private equity firms around the world.
David also acts as Canadian counsel for international clients, such as Amdocs Limited, in their Canadian activities and most recently acted for Amdocs in its acquisition of Bridgewater Systems Corporation.

David is the Chair of the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto and a member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Jewish Archives and the National Marketing Committee of State of Israel Bonds (Canada). He was the co-chair of Toronto’s 2015 United Jewish Appeal Campaign. David produced a 52 minute documentary film entitled “My Herzl” and owns the world’s largest collection of Theodor Herzl memorabilia which he has exhibited across Canada.
David joined Goodmans in 1987 and has been a partner since 1992.
