Environmental
For the last 25 years, Goodmans has remained at the forefront of solving environmental issues in major city-building projects in the Greater Toronto Area, including the revitalization of Toronto’s Waterfront and redevelopment of the Distillery District.
We have been instrumental in pioneering new strategies and solutions to resolve historical environmental and land use issues relating to urban revitalization and infrastructure. These strategies have unlocked the potential of dormant brownfield sites and underutilized and former industrial sites that are being re-developed across Toronto and the province of Ontario.
Goodmans advises on a wide variety of environmental issues in complex transactions as well as litigation in contaminated lands disputes, professional liability and defense in prosecutions.
Our practice encompasses inter-disciplinary fields such as cleantech, Brownfield redevelopment, natural heritage protection, renewable energy, product stewardship, climate change, environmental permitting, waste management and the transportation of excess soils.
We keep abreast of the rapidly evolving environmental landscape and guide our clients through a regulatory regime they are subject to, but might not entirely understand. Clients trust us to pre-empt potential issues and act with confidence and urgency. We counsel corporations, corporate directors and executives on their environmental duties before an infraction arises. Our Environmental Group advises both public and private sector clients as they navigate through the complex and evolving world of environmental regulation.
