Ryan Cookson is an associate in the Litigation Group at Goodmans. He has a broad-based civil litigation practice, with particular focus in the area of commercial litigation.
Ryan has experience in a variety of litigation and advisory matters, including cases involving professional liability, contract disputes, class actions, intellectual property and shareholder disputes. He has acted on several cases that involve obtaining or defending permanent and interlocutory injunctions, such as asset-freezing orders and injunctions to prevent disclosure of confidential information. Ryan also has experience in public law, government relations, and constitutional matters.
Ryan has acted as counsel on trials, appeals and arbitrations, and has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal.
Prior to joining Goodmans, Ryan attended Western Law School, where he graduated on the Dean’s List (top 10% of the class) and won several awards for high academic standing, including the Law Society of Upper Canada Prize. In 2012-2013, Ryan clerked for the Honourable Justice Janet M. Simmons and the Honourable Justice Russell G. Juriansz of the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
Ryan is also a member of the Board of Governors of Royal St. George’s College.
