Tara Hunt

Tara Hunt is a partner in a business law group at Goodmans. Her practice is transaction based and she acts for both public and private companies, with a particular emphasis on public and private mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and corporate finance transactions, private equity, and sports franchise transactions. She also assists companies with their corporate governance and continuous disclosure obligations.

Tara is recognized as a “Next Generation Partner” for corporate and M&A, as a “Rising Star” for corporate, M&A and private equity by Legal Media Group’s Expert Guides, and as “One to Watch” for corporate law by Best Lawyers in Canada. She has also been recommended for capital markets and sports law by The Legal 500 Canada and “Repeatedly Recommended” by The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for mergers & acquisitions. 

Tara has her Master of Laws in Global Business Law from Columbia Law School. Tara obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto where she was the co-president of the Business Law Society and a senior editor of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review. 

Tara joined Goodmans as a first year summer student in 2014 and became an associate at the firm in 2017.
