Caroline Descours is a partner in the Corporate Restructuring Group at Goodmans. She practices in the areas of commercial insolvency, corporate restructuring, corporate law, bankruptcy and financial services.
Caroline has been involved in significant Canadian, cross-border and transnational commercial, insolvency and restructuring matters. Her experience includes recapitalizations, acquisitions, commercial financing transactions, receivership proceedings, and corporate and insolvency restructurings. Her roles include acting as counsel for debtors, secured and unsecured lenders and bondholders, and monitors. Caroline has acted for key parties in several complex matters including, among others, the restructurings of Cinram International, Graceway Canada, Sino-Forest, SkyLink, Extreme Fitness, Jaguar Mining, Mobilicity, Tamerlane, Target, Plasco Energy Group, Cash Store, Aurcana, Horsehead and FirstOnSite. She has also acted as a principal company advisor in recent complex restructurings of Nelson Education, Sherritt International, Postmedia, Rubicon Minerals, Millar Western Forest Products and Concordia International.
Caroline is recognized as a Rising Star in restructuring and insolvency by IFLR 1000. Caroline was awarded the Law Society of Upper Canada Prize in 2009 and was twice named to the Dean’s Honour List.
