Details
Schedule:
12:00 - 12:30 pm - Lunch/Networking
12:30 - 2:00 pm - Program
We are thrilled to welcome back Professor Randal Graham for an interactive discussion on conflicts. While we often focus on conflicts of interest arising from the lawyer’s duties to another client, former client or third person, this session will feature conflicts related to the lawyer’s own personal interests.
Professor Graham will highlight the difference between “conduct unbecoming” and “professional misconduct” and analyze applicable rules of professional conduct (including those governing conflicts, civility, and the lawyer’s relationship to the administration of justice). He will also delve into:
- Personality conflicts between lawyers;
- Financial relationships between lawyers and clients;
- Personal involvement with clients; and
- The impact of outside interests on a lawyer’s professional activities.
Guest Speaker
Professor Randal Graham, University of Western Ontario professor and Goodmans LLP Fellow of Legal Ethics, is a leading expert and author in the field of legal ethics.
