Goodmans Presents: Meet the Documentary and Lifestyle Commissioning Editors
—a networking event exclusively for WIFT- T members

On Wednesday, March 30, 2005, join your fellow WIFT-T members for a lively, informative, and entertaining evening with Canada's leading documentary and lifestyle commissioning editors!

The commissioning editors will talk about the stories and subjects of current interest to their organisations and share insights into building successful, long-term relationships with broadcasters. The panel will address a range of issues, from how to ensure your project finds its way to the right decision makers, to pitching and follow-up protocol, to realistic expectations for license fees and other vital information for independent producers. This is an invaluable opportunity for documentary and lifestyle producers to meet decision-makers—particularly for members preparing to pitch at Hot Docs and the Banff World Television Festival.

Confirmed panelists:

  • Rudy Buttignol, Creative Head of Network Programming, TVOntario
  • Bob Culbert, Vice President, Documentaries, CTV
  • Maria Armstrong, Director of Original Programming, W Network
  • Charlotte Odele, Commissioning Editor, The Passionate Eye, CBC Television
  • Alberta Nokes, Director and Executive Producer, Independent Production, Vision TV and One
  • Sarah Whitehouse, Acquisitions Executive, Documentary Channel
  • Jody Read, Vice President, Programming, Discovery Health Channel, BBC CANADA and BBC Kids
  • Lisa Siskind, Director of Original Programming, Life Network and National Geographic Channel
  • Anna Gecan, Director of Programming, HGTV, FOOD Network Canada, and Fine Living Canada

A question-and-answer period will follow the formal panel discussion. The evening will conclude with an informal networking reception.
