Goodmans Presents: Shareholder Activism - Keeping Up with the New Normal
|Lawyer||Jonathan Feldman, Michael Partridge|
|Area||Shareholder Rights and Activism|
7:30 - 8:00 am: Breakfast / Networking
8:00 - 9:30 am: Panel Discussion
Shareholder activism is a firmly established part of the capital markets landscape in Canada. What appears now to be a simple, undeniable truth in reality is a highly dynamic, constantly evolving and often very dramatic field, where the rules of the game and the paths to success are in flux. Activism is affecting all dimensions of our public markets, touching corporate governance generally, issuer accountability, shareholder interaction and investment strategies, among other areas.
Goodmans will be hosting a panel of experts to discuss the latest trends and issues in shareholder activism in Canada and the U.S., including:
- new participants in the activism sphere;
- activism as an asset class;
- activist strategies and objectives (a “kinder, gentler” approach?);
- responding to activists – current tactics and thinking;
- activism in the oil patch; and
- recent legal developments.
