In a self-regulated profession, it is critical to have rules of conduct that ensure a high standard of professionalism as well as promote public trust and confidence in the legal profession. As of October 1, 2014, our Rules of Professional Conduct have been amended to implement the Federation of Law Societies of Canada’s Model Code. Most amendments are minor; however, there are some substantive changes that lawyers should know.
In this session, the knowledgeable and entertaining Professor Randal Graham will review the most significant changes in the amended rules and their impact for lawyers. He will also ensure that you are apprised of proposed future amendments, both to our Rules of Professional Conduct and Ontario’s Law Society Act, currently being debated by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.
