On September 8th, Goodmans partner Caroline Descours spoke at the session, “Liability Management Transactions (LMTs)” held by the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (CAIRP)’s 2025 Insolvency & Restructuring Exchange Conference.
This session explored how LMTs serve as strategic alternatives for distressed companies to optimize capital structure and improve liquidity. Key topics included the main forms of LMTs, lender insights, practical considerations such as creditor disputes and legal risks, and the roles that restructuring professionals can play in advising companies considering an LMT.
