We are incredible proud to share that Peter Ruby has been appointed a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario. The appointment was announced by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, on October 8, 2026.
Peter joined Goodmans in 1999 and has been an integral part of the firm ever since. Over the course of his distinguished career, he built an exceptional litigation practice and became one of the firm's most respected advocates, advising clients on a broad range of commercial litigation, arbitration, technology, insolvency and privacy law matters. He has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Courts, the Supreme Court of Canada, and numerous tribunals across the country.
A trusted colleague, generous mentor and respected leader, Peter has made a lasting impact on Goodmans and the broader legal community through his professional excellence, commitment to legal education and dedication to the development of future generations of lawyers.
We congratulate Justice Ruby on this well-deserved appointment and thank him for his many contributions to Goodmans over the past 26 years. We wish him every success in this next chapter of his distinguished career.
