Autolane’s Infrastructure Solutions for Autonomous Vehicles
The development of robotaxis from companies such as Waymo LLC and Zoox, Inc. has sparked broader conversations about how autonomous vehicles will integrate into everyday life. For this integration to be seamless, operational details, such as designated stopping locations and passenger handoff moments, will become increasingly important to manage. Autolane Inc. (“Autolane”), a Palo Alto–based company, is aiming to address this specific piece of the puzzle.
Autolane plans to develop and implement physical infrastructure improvements, including dedicated signage and curbside elements similar to those used by rideshare platforms, alongside complementary software solutions. Backed by venture capital firms including Draper Associates and Hyperplane, the company intends to launch its efforts by focusing on coordinating designated pickup and drop-off points for organizations that want robotaxis operating on their private property.
The primary targets for this initiative include large commercial operators, such as Costco, McDonald’s and Home Depot. The solution is explicitly positioned as a B2B, hardware-enabled SaaS offering, meaning it is designed for enterprise clients rather than individual consumers or public use, and is tailored to meet specific operational business needs. At this stage, Autolane is not targeting public streets or publicly accessible parking lots.
