BrainBox and KMC Controls Announce Partnership Focused on Lowering the Energy Footprint of Buildings
Montreal’s BrainBox AI has announced a new partnership with KMC Controls, which will focus on helping commercial buildings lower their energy consumption and carbon footprint through leveraging technology solutions. The new partnership will use deep learning, cloud-based computing and autonomous decision making to help optimize energy use and increase operational efficiencies in commercial buildings.
The partnership between Brainbox and KMC will focus on integrating Brainbox’s AI technology with KMC’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning control system products. This integration will provide BrainBox’s predictive and self-adaptive AI technology with better access to information about each building’s performance and behaviours, resulting in faster and better autonomous decision making. Together, these changes will help commercial buildings to optimize energy savings, increase operational efficiencies, extend equipment life and maximize occupancy comfort.
Presently, emissions from the building construction industry and operational emissions for commercial buildings account for approximately 38 percent of total global energy-related CO2 emissions. BrainBox’s technology is able to reduce total energy costs of commercial buildings up to 25%, creating a 20 - 40% reduction in carbon footprint and a 60% increase in occupant comfort. Building operators can also see up to a 50% extension in the service life of the HVAC equipment.
In recognition of the company’s efforts to design digital solutions to address the climate crisis, BrainBox has been chosen for the Innovation Showcase at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow in November. BrainBox is the only Canadian company selected to participate.
The company has installed it’s technology in over 100 million square feet of commercial space internationally, including spaces in Australia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. While BrainBox is not alone in the sector, similar companies, such as Toronto-based Parity, have yet to reach BrainBox’s geographic scale.
