Eight Sports Tech Startups Join the Future of Sport Lab Cohort
As reported by BetaKit, Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) – in collaboration with the DMZ – have accepted eight startups for the third cohort of the Future of Sport Lab’s (FSL) incubator program. The selected startups were chosen for their innovative work in athlete performance, fan engagement, venue technology and youth sport sectors.
The startups joining FSL’s incubator program include:
- BookSeats.com, a platform allowing users to book packages that combine travel, accommodation and tickets.
- Classlete, a membership-based social media platform for high school athletes.
- DIBZ, a technology that allows fans to use messaging to find seat upgrades at sporting events.
- Drive Hockey Analytics, a company that uses sensors to track the location of players, sticks and pucks in real-time.
- Innerlogic, an analytics company assisting sports organizations in their leadership decisions.
- TheProgram.ai, an app providing athletic assessments and training programs.
- tiptapSPORTS, a touchless payment system for venues.
- Vic Park Analytics, a strategic consulting startup aimed at unlocking the next generation female sport consumer and marketplace.
FSL provides participants with mentorship, resources, and opportunities to develop their technology and scale their businesses. Startups that have graduated from the program have gone on to raise more than $30 million in new financing and investments, along with new business partnerships and ventures. Notable graduates of FSL’s incubator program include The Gist, ProWire, Spalk and Zone7.
