Three BC Cleantech Companies Receive $13.4 million in Federal Cleantech Funding
The Government of Canada recently announced an investment of $13.4 million in three British Columbia-based clean technology companies, Loop Energy, Acuva Technologies and CORE Energy Recovery Solutions Inc. The funding will result in 169 new jobs and millions of dollars of revenue.
Two companies produce parts for zero-emission vehicles and one company develops water purification systems technology. Loop Energy provides hydrogen fuel cell systems for vehicle original equipment manufacturers and power generation system manufacturers. The funding will allow Loop Energy to purchase new equipment and bring a key part of its manufacturing process in house, eliminating reliance on international suppliers.
Acuva Technologies develops water purification systems using ultraviolet light emitting diode (UV-LED) technology. The funding will help Acuva improve its existing products, commercialize new offerings and bring them to market. CORE Energy Recovery Solutions Inc. will use the funding to commercialize its fuel cell humidifier prototype. It aims to increase production and quality control to allow the company to make products for heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles such as buses and trucks.
The funding is part of the Government of Canada’s broader push to invest in Canadian clean technology.
