Uber Canada to Expand Services in 2019

Uber Canada has big goals for 2019. It recently announced plans to debut electric bike and scooter rentals on Canadian streets in 2019, a year in which it also hopes to expand its alcohol delivery services and grow its self-driving technology lab in Toronto. Uber has already created a large network of scooters in U.S. cities through a partnership with New York-based company Jump.

“We want the Uber app on your cellphone to provide you with access to each type of transit that is relevant for you,” Uber Canada’s recently-appointed general manager Rob Khazzam said. “That means in the future you are going to open the app and not just see Uber X or an ExpressPool or a Pool in a high-end vehicle. We are going to increasingly be providing you with access to different modes of transportation that better the journey you are going on.”

In 2019, Uber also plans to expand their alcohol delivery service, currently launched in British Columbia, to Ontario and Quebec. A recent job posting for “head of grocery product” in Toronto also signals that Uber may be moving into the supermarket industry as well.
