Goodmans Presents... In Conversation with Associate Chief Justice Fairburn

Details

As of a few months ago, for the first time in its history, the majority of the Supreme Court of Canada justices are women. This is a huge step for the representation of women in the judiciary and, ultimately, for gender equality in Canada. But this level of representation has not yet been achieved at all levels in the legal profession and, perhaps more importantly, the issue of whether women feel included is more difficult to assess and achieve.

Please join the Associate Chief Justice of Ontario – Associate Chief Justice Michal Fairburn – and Goodmans Partner Tamryn Jacobson in a thought-provoking conversation centered around this year's International Women’s Day theme: "Inspire Inclusion."  The discussion will encompass a range of topics, including:
  • How has representation and inclusion of women evolved over the last 30 years in the legal profession?
  • What initiatives have been undertaken at the Ontario Court of Appeal to enhance diversity and inclusion?
  • What can the judiciary, law firms, and lawyers do to inspire inclusion of women in law?

Please note: This was a live-only session.
