Ford OTX Trademark Generates a Buzz
Ford recently came out with an all-electric version of its flagship pickup truck, the F-150, called the Lightning.
A few days prior to revealing the new F-150 Lightning, Ford filed a trademark application for the name “OTX”. Some are speculating that “OTX” might be an appearance package for the all-electric Lightning, similar to “STX” being the appearance package for the regular gas-powered F-150.
However, the purpose behind Ford’s latest trademark filing remains unclear. The trademark application does specifically mention electric vehicles, but it also mentions automobiles, SUVs, and off-road vehicles. Ford could very well be attempting to reserve the “OTX” moniker for any one of the vehicles in its current or future lineup.
