Ford Patents Conveyor Belts in SUVs to Help Move Your Groceries

Ford Global Technologies, the company who manages and commercializes patents and copyrights for Ford Motors, has recently patented a conveyor belt mechanism which is meant to aid with the storage and removal of items.

The patent is titled “Third-Row Conveyor Load Floor” and includes designs to replace the floor of the cargo area in the vehicle with conveyor belts, effectively allowing the consumer to transport items, such as groceries, from the front seat all the way to the back of the trunk with the push of a button.

The patent includes a series of drawings illustrating the manner by which the mechanism would work.

Of course, the patent application does not guarantee that the idea will make it to production – many manufacturers apply for patents but do not ultimately bring the product to market.
