Sony Patent May Reveal Anticipated New Console

The next “generation” of video game consoles are expected in the 2020 holiday season but the design of Sony’s new console may have leaked more than a year early. Diagrams of what seems to be a V-shaped video game console were found in a Brazilian patent recently granted to Sony.

The patent covers a “configuration applied to / in electronic device” and lists Sony’s engineering director as the designer. This being Sony’s fifth iteration of its Playstation-brand video game consoles, many speculate the V-shape represents the roman numeral five.

One video game developer reportedly tweeted that the prototype video game console Sony gave him to develop video games looks like that diagram. This tweet and the account it was deleted from were promptly deleted.
