Josh is an associate in the Competition and Foreign Investment group at Goodmans. He advises on all aspects of Canadian competition law, including mergers, alleged cartels and alleged abuse of dominance. Josh also advises on mergers subject to the Investment Canada Act.
Before joining Goodmans, Josh acted as a Competition Law Officer for the Competition Bureau, Canada’s competition and antitrust regulator. Josh served in the Mergers Directorate, reviewing proposed mergers to assess competition concerns. He contributed to some of the Bureau’s most significant merger reviews, including in the agriculture, aerospace, natural resources, insurance and manufacturing sectors. Josh was also a member of the Merger Intelligence and Notification Unit, advising public servants and merging parties on the notification requirements of the Competition Act.
Josh served as Program Faculty at the 2020 Osgoode Professional Development M&A Skills Boot Camp. He is a lifelong volunteer for Beth Tzedec Congregation, where he served as a Director from 2017-2021. Josh is a frequent rider and fundraiser for the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s Ride for Heart.
