Maple Leaf Foods completes the spin-off of its pork business into a new company

Goodmans LLP acted for McCain Capital Inc. and the McCain family, the largest shareholder of Maple Leaf Foods Inc., in connection with Maple Leaf Foods’ completed separation into two independent public companies.

Maple Leaf continues to be a more focused brand-led consumer packaged goods company, and it spun off its pork business into a new publicly traded company, Canada Packers Inc. The new pork company provides Maple Leaf Foods with a secure supply of pork at market prices for its prepared foods business.
