As of January 1, 2021, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (“CIPO”) will be raising the fees for some services, including trademark application and renewal fees, by 2%. This 2% increase is in accordance with the Service Fees Act. The fee amount that must be paid for services that are subject to the annual adjustment will depend on the date on which the fee is received by the Registrar, not the date on which the service was originally requested. For a full list of the services that are subject to the annual adjustment, see the announcement on the CIPO website.
